We’re one of the most popular commerce platforms on the web, powering millions of stores, including our own at woo.com. In fact, one in five online stores are powered by Woo, including Bjork’s official store and the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team’s official store.
Built on WordPress, Woo empowers anyone, anywhere, to sell anything. We partner with global technology brands such as Stripe, PayPal, Google, TikTok, Pinterest, Klaviyo and others, integrating their services with Woo to provide all the tools businesses need to run and grow their online stores. As part of the Automattic family, Woo is fully distributed, with no physical offices. The flexibility and autonomy that come with working from home are in our DNA–we provide benefits and resources to support your growth while doing your best work from anywhere in the world. We have a huge footprint, but we’re a small company. That means everyone here has the opportunity to make a visible, profound, and lasting difference while helping the store owners who rely on Woo every day.

- Partner and collaborate with a dedicated engineering team to execute your roadmap.
- Facilitate debate, influence prioritization, and inspire contribution from cross-functional teams.
- Where possible, drive synergies of the platform and build across payments products.
Customer-Centric Approach:
- Engage with merchants and agencies to understand their most critical needs through customer interviews, behavioral data analysis, and intuition. Understand their motivations for choosing different payment providers.
- Identify and execute the opportunities which drive the most strategic value, and actively maintain product and discovery backlogs.
- Validate product direction through testing and MVPs.
Product Performance and Growth:
- Analyze user behavior data and market trends to create actionable insights that maximize user satisfaction and drive growth.
- Create and track product performance metrics and report progress in partnership with the data and engineering teams.
- Address opportunities related to checkout conversion to help merchants maximize their sales.
- Understand why merchants churn off Stripe, and work closely with other product leaders to have a holistic understanding of this area, and collectively find opportunities to address.
- Familiarity with partnership commercial constructs is a plus!
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with Stripe to unlock new capabilities that increase the value add for merchants, while simultaneously creating opportunities to increase revenue streams for the business.
- Collaborate with other product leads, design, engineering, payment operations, marketing, and customer success to ensure alignment and efficient execution of quarterly plans.
- Advocate for projects, secure necessary resources, and escalate to leadership when goals are at risk.
Requirements:
- A proven product leader with a focus on payments and WooCommerce or WordPress.
- Someone with a track record in product management, with a preferred background in engineering.
- Experienced managing products with revenue or PnL responsibility is preferred.
- An exceptional leader with strong team management skills.
- An excellent communicator, collaborator, and problem solver.
- Deeply driven by customers and are driven to understand their needs.
- At the intersection of data-informed and data-sparse decision-making in order to measure the impact of product initiatives.

We’re a distributed company with more than 1900 Automatticians in 96 countries speaking 120+ different languages. And, even more than growth and profitability (although we’re plenty profitable), above all, we’re driven by a mission: We democratize publishing and commerce so anyone with a story can tell it, and anyone with a product can sell it, regardless of income, gender, politics, language, or country.
We believe in Open Source, and the vast majority of our work is available under the GPL.
Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion at Automattic
We’re improving diversity in the tech industry. At Automattic, we want people to love their work and show respect and empathy to all. We welcome differences and strive to increase participation from traditionally underrepresented groups. Our DEI committee involves Automatticians across the company and drives grassroots change. For example, this group has helped facilitate private online spaces for affiliated Automatticians to gather and helps run a monthly DEI People Lab series for further learning. DEI is a priority at Automattic, though our dedication influences far more than just Automatticians: We make our products freely available and translate our products into and offer customer support in numerous languages. We require unconscious bias training for our hiring teams and ensure our products are accessible across different bandwidths and devices.
