Senior Full Stack PHP Developer with AI/ML Expertise

For our US partner, FieldFlo company, we are seeking a Senior Full Stack PHP Developer with AI/ML expertise from the Balkan region. This remote position, offered under a B2B contractor agreement, is part of the established Serbian development hub.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Senior Full Stack PHP Developer with AI/ML expertise, you’ll be part of our fast-growing Serbian development hub, driving end-to-end feature development with PHP (CodeIgniter 3), JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and SQL. While dedicating 80% of your time to building and enhancing core functionality and 20% to QA and bug resolution, you’ll also lead innovation by creating AI/ML-powered assistants and leveraging AWS services to shape the future of our SaaS platform.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Develop new features from start to finish, contributing across the development lifecycle.
• Spend 80% of your time on development and 20% on quality assurance.
• Work with PHP (CodeIgniter 3), JavaScript (jQuery), HTML, CSS (Bootstrap is a plus), and SQL.
• Maintain and improve existing features for efficiency and relevance.
• Quickly resolve bugs to ensure product stability and user satisfaction.
• Drive innovation by designing and deploying AI/ML-powered features and assistants, including conversational and form-filling solutions, and integrate AWS AI services (Transcribe, Bedrock, Polly, SageMaker) to enhance platform intelligence.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must-Haves:

• 5+ years of experience as a Full Stack PHP Developer, with expertise in CodeIgniter and efficient SQL query crafting (MySQL/Postgres/NoSQL).
• Skilled in AWS deployment.
• Proficient in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery for seamless front-end integration.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Fluent in English with strong communication skills for remote collaboration.

AI/ML & Applied Innovation Experience (Required):

• Hands-on experience in developing and deploying AI-powered features or assistants, especially conversational or form-filling assistants.
• Experience with building agentic AI assistants that interact with both structured data and unstructured inputs (speech, images).
• Proven experience working on Proof of Concept (PoC) or MVP phases for AI/ML products, with strong skills in quick iteration cycles, feasibility validation, and rapid prototyping.

Experience with integration and deployment of core AWS AI services:

• Amazon Transcribe (speech-to-text pipelines)
• Amazon Bedrock (LLM orchestration, prompt engineering, chain-of-thought reasoning)
• Amazon Polly (text-to-speech synthesis)
• SageMaker Studio (model training and deployment)

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience with Node.js, React.js, and Python.
• Hands-on knowledge of Kubernetes (EKS) and asynchronous architectures.
• Familiarity with advanced observability tools like New Relic and DataDog.
