Backend Software Engineer

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer to join our team on iLottery Platform. In this role, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and build robust backend systems that power our next-generation digital lottery solutions. You’ll contribute to every phase of development—from planning and architecture to delivery - helping bring secure, scalable, and innovative experiences to lottery players around the world.

What You’ll Do:

• Collaborate with teams across Serbia, Iceland and Canada to analyze, design, and develop the backend infrastructure for iLottery gaming products
• Build, test, and deploy high-quality, reliable software
• Write efficient, clean, and reusable code
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical standards and best practices
• Mentor less experienced team members and support their development
• Contribute to release planning, ensuring timely and successful delivery

What You’ll Bring:

• B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent
• 5+ years of experience in Enterprise Java development
• Strong proficiency with frameworks like Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate
• Strong knowledge of relational databases like PostgreSQL, as well as NoSQL databases
• Proven experience in designing, building, and maintaining RESTful APIs
• Hands-on experience working with message queues (RabbitMQ preferred)
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environment
• Knowledge of cloud technologies and services, particularly AWS
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools
• Experience with monitoring tools like Grafana for system visibility and performance tuning
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Nice To Have:

• Experience with reactive programming using Vert.x or similar
• A security-first mindset and experience implementing secure coding practices
