Context:

Within the Engineering department this role consists of technical leadership of a project/product team, in an international and multicultural context, of participating, organizing and planning the design, development, testing and maintenance of several projects like SDS Cloud, WEB API and EcodEx, ensuring seamless integration, scalability, and performance across different platforms, services, and components of the Trace One Devex PLM solution.

Key responsibilities:

To guide the technical direction of a project/product team, while ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality software. This involves making implementation decisions, mentoring and supporting the development team, and bridging the gap between technical execution and business goals. The role ensures that the team remains productive, aligned, and equipped to solve complex technical challenges.

• Technical Leadership – overviews implementation architecture and code review process, provide technology 
  guidance and assists in problems solving of complex technical issues.
• Team Leadership and Management - provide leadership and direction to the assigned team members, monitor the performance and give regular updates to the Engineering Manager as to the teams performance, progress and health status.  
• Project Management - assist in planning ensure that technical tasks are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. Identify technical risks early in the project and propose mitigation strategies.
• Quality Assurance - ensure that the team adheres to high standards of code quality, and lead efforts to automate testing and deployment. Continuously monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring the solution can handle scaling and evolving user needs.
• Communication - act as a bridge between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, provide regular updates on the progress of backlog items, and works closely with other departments to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.
• Production Support - assess, prioritise and resolve production issues, and work with the project/product team to deliver In line with defined SLAs, monitor support capacity.
• Hands-On Development – Continue to actively contribute to the codebase, focusing on key components, while also creating prototypes or proof of concepts (POCs) to assess the viability of technical solutions before full implementation.
• Process Improvement - Ensure the team manages technical debt by balancing new feature delivery with code refactoring, while continuously optimizing the development process through the implementation of Scrum best practices.

Technical skills & qualifications:

• Able to work on existing code autonomously whilst sticking to best practices
• Experience working on C#, .net 4, WebForms, ASP .NET MVC, JavaScript, jQuery
• Proficient in working with relational databases
• Full stack experience ideal
• Degree in Computer Science or IT related field

Experience:

• 5+ years of engineering experience in relevant technologies
• Experience with GIT, Azure DevOps
• Experience with Agile Methodologies
• Some technical lead experience preferred
• Experience working with distributed teams across regions and time zones

Hierarchy and interactions:

• Reports to an Engineering manager
• Typically interacts with other teams including Support, Product Management
